Mells Park

scenic driven pheasant days in Somerset

Set among the combes of the Mendip Hills, Mells Park is one the finest examples of the English country house. The Grade 1 listed parkland and lakes date back to the eighteenth century and provide a stunning backdrop for this long established high pheasant shoot. The natural topography of the estate combined with the strategically positioned cover crops provides a variety of testing pheasant drives such as Keeper Dick's, the Duckery and the Serpentine. Tor Rock typifies the idyllic English country drive with the guns lined-up at the foot of the arboretum with their backs to the lakes. There can be nothing more gratifying than watching the dogs on the far bank dipping in and out of the water to fetch the birds at the end of a hard working day.
